Avril Lavigne Whibley được biết đến nhiều hơn với cái tên Avril Lavigne, là một nữ nghệ sĩ người Canada từng được đề cử 8 giải Grammy. Cô vừa là ca sĩ nổi tiếng đồng thời là một nhạc sĩ, diễn viên và nhà thiết kế thời trang. Năm 2006 cô được tạp chí Canadian Business xếp ở vị trí thứ 7 trong top 10 người Canada quyền lực nhất Hollywood.

Năm 2002 Lavigne phát hành album đầu tay mang tên Let Go, đĩa nhạc này đã bán được 16 triệu bản và được hiệp hội ghi âm Hoa Kì 6 lần công nhận đĩa bạch kim. Hai album tiếp theo của Avril là: Under My Skin (2004) bán được 10 triệu bản và The Best Damn Thing (2007) bán được 6 triệu bản. Cả hai đĩa nhạc này đều dành được vị trí quán quân trên bảng xếp hạng album US Billboard 200 của Hoa Kỳ. Lavigne đã phát hành tổng cộng 11 đĩa đơn, trong đó có 5 ca khúc rất thành công là: ”Complicated”, ”Sk8er Boi”, ”I'm With You”, ”My Happy Ending” và đặc biệt là "Girlfriend", ca khúc đã từng đứng đầu trên bảng xếp hạng US Billboard Hot 100. Cuối năm 2007, Lavigne đã được kênh truyền hình VH1 xếp vào top 50 nữ nghệ sĩ sản xuất video ấn tượng nhất mọi thời đại. Với thu nhập 12 triệu đôla trong năm 2007 Lavigne đứng ở vị trí thứ 7 trong Top 20 nghệ sĩ dưới 25 tuổi kếm được nhiều tiền nhất. Tính đến thời điểm hiện tại cô đã bán được 30 triệu đĩa nhạc trên toàn thế giới.
